Asset Manager – Central & West Africa
A portfolio (PMO) role where I was accountable for asset performance in four African countries. Led a
team of 20 (3 direct reports) compromising of technical, commercial, financial and legal, including in
country personnel. Responsibility for all activity including government relations, JV management,
stakeholder engagement, strategy, JV operations, local office management, techno-commercial
delivery, legal evaluations, study work and finance.
• Increased value of assets by over 100% during period in charge
• Management of 28 assets working with 6 sets of joint venture partners
• Delivered a regional growth plan including M&A activity
• Delivered year on year cost reduction programme, meeting all targets
• Improved stakeholder relationships in all countries of operation

 

Pre-FID Project Manager – Jubilee Field Development 
Leadership of the Jubilee offshore programme of works from Concept through to FEED and Final
Investment Decision.
• Led the merger of two major assets including all pre- and post-merger integration work
• Drove a cost reduction exercise that delivered savings of over $500mm
• Delivered a number of significant scope changes for net-zero cost
• Managed the organisational redesign and associated culture change required
• Navigated project through all internal gates in governance and assurance framework
• Coached a mindset shift from a large one-off capital outlay strategy to a smaller incremental
approach in order to manage capital more efficiently and improve rates of return.
• Navigated stringent legal and regulatory obligations in complex commercial settings

Capital Project Manager, Jubilee Phase 1A 
Execution leadership of the Jubilee deep-water project situated offshore Ghana. Scope of project was
predominantly subsea facilities including trees, manifolds, pipelines, umbilicals, risers, associated
FPSO modifications and oversight of the drilling and completions programme.
• Recovered the project from significant delays and cost-overruns
• Management of the offshore contractors (Technip, FMC, Aker)
• Managed the integration into the existing operating business
• Accountability for an international supply chain programme
• Commended for halting offshore work programme owing to rising EHS risks
• Delivered project with zero LTIs

Head of Project Controls 
Functional leadership of the Project Controls department, leading the recruitment programme that
saw the function grow from an initial position of 3 professionals supporting a single business unit to
over 60 professionals supporting 9 business units. Developed and implemented a number of critical
business transformation projects to deliver a backbone of key capability to support the delivery of the
capital projects portfolio.
• Transitioned the function from 4 siloed areas into a fully integrated global team
• Managed the headcount ramp-up to match the significant increase in capital expenditure

• Implemented a people strategy to ensure the core team was capable of managing the future

Project Controls Manager, Uganda Business Unit 
Responsible for the planning and control of the first commercial discovery in the Lake Albert region in
Western Uganda, maturing the asset from early hydrocarbon identification through to declaration of
commerciality and finally onto a final investment decision
• Delivered the first basin wide field development plan
• Responsible for all integrated asset planning including coordination with downstream partner
• Drove significant cost reduction strategies to ensure declaration of commerciality could be
achieved in line with host government expectations and internal economic hurdles
• Successfully managed FEED Contractor project controls team to ensure the project

 

Senior Project Services Manager, Statoil Projects
Responsible for planning, control and portfolio management for all Statoil projects at Mongstad and
Karsto. Led a functional team of 25 supporting 5 projects
• Responsible for setting team priorities and ensuring adequate resourcing
• Developed key relationships with the external stakeholders within the host country as well as
2 government bodies focused on gas infrastructure and transportation
• Initiated and led a significant cost recovery exercise that arose during a sensitive contract
delay
• Fostered a close working relationship with the engineering group
• Steered the planning for a number of projects through very complex and political joint venture
partnerships
• Evaluated and recommended a number of different contracting strategies to ensure an
appropriate supply chain was in place to support delivery
• Led all the efforts on risk and change management across the portfolio
objectives were met as expected with no surprises
• Led a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative risk assessment across integrated asset
project pipeline without resourcing delays
• Delivered an ambitious nationalisation programme in key host countries
• Managed business change initiatives to streamline investment planning
• Developed a strategic 3rd party alliance to support major overseas activities

 

Change Manager, Total Yemen LNG Project 
Senior member of the Directorate team tasked with managing 4 operating centers, over 20 major
fabrication and vendor facilities and a construction site in an extremely challenging frontier location in
an emerging market, with significant EHS & Security risks. Project scope was multi billion dollar, 2
train LNG complex, capacity 6.6mtpa. Process plant plus all utilities, off sites and marine jetty.
• Responsible for leading all activity relating to cost recovery issues, contractual disputes and
commercial negotiations
• Performance management of the London Operating Centre
• Developed and managed all joint venture cost and financial and corporate reporting.
• Initiated the joint development of labour and resourcing plans across all partners in order to
focus on nationalisation and local content stipulations
