Rupesh is a leading Chartered Environmental Manager and water industry Engineer with experience on mega projects in India, the Untied States of America and the United Kingdom. Coupled with this he holds an LLB in law and has undertaken various FIDIC contract training modules and regularly prepares bid technical and commercial documents using FIDIC and other standard forms for state and  municipal projects funded by multilateral development banks. He reviews technical and commercial bids as part of a detailed evaluation process.

He has undertaken design and management work on the the AMP programmes in the United Kingdom including AMP5, AMP6 and AMP7 (Thames Water (Optimise), United Utilities, Southern Water, Severn Trent).

Main Project Features: The project is located in Mumbai. Excessive pollution load from adjoining
stormwater drains pour millions of liters of wastewater and sludge in Mithi river. The objective of
the project is to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on measures to curb pollution load of Mithi
river and to restore the river to its original state
Activities Performed: Responsibilities include Project Management of interception of sewage
ingress in stormwater drains and facilitate design of sewerage collection system and sewage
treatment plant. Scoping of project surveys, Client co-ordination, presentation to various
stakeholeders etc. Preperation of tender documents, employers requirements, instruction to

pumping station, interception and diversion arrangement, barge mounted aeration system and
installation of penstocks on storm water drains outfall.

Activities Performed: Model build of Hayle sewer catchment for growth studies. There were 49
flow monitors installed on sewerage collection system in this catchment which needed to be verified
against the observed flow monitor data for dry weather and storm. Software used Infoworks.

Activities Performed: Digitisation of 21 sq km of sewerage catchment area in Falmouth using the
impermiability assessment survey (IAS) survey and OS maps of the area. Building of sewer network
drainage model and verfication of the model. Review of the design of proposed underground sewere
drainage system.

Activities Performed: Preparation of underground sewerage flooding alleviation schemes –
Primarily involved in preparing annulised benefits for sewerage system, flooding schemes,
prepearing modelling intent report, design & review sewerage network, planning surveys, Model
build an verification of the existing or new sewer catchment, preperation of needs model, solution
optioneering, checking and reviewing sewer model build and verification. Involved in providing a
solution for 52 sewer flooding properties on Elm Park road in Crossness catchment. – A key
resource of the Urban Drainage Modelling Division in Optimise programme for Thames water UK.

Overflow (CSO) Year: 2012-2014

Main Project Features: HighRoad Leytonstone & Orchard Close Comined Sewer Overflow
flooding scheme were part of the Optimise programme for Thames water. The project included
sewerage design & abatement of pollution and alliveiation of property sewer flooding scheme. The
site was located in close proximity to the Olympic Park and major street work improvements in the
area placed significant restrictions on construction
Activities Performed: The solution followed an integrated approach and consisted of construction
at 8 locations across the catchment. This included:
• Decommissioning of a Combined Sewer Overflow
• Design & construction 143 m of storm water sewer
• Design & construction of 261 m of new sewerage system
•Construction of 66 m long,1150×750 mm elliptical online sewage storage facility
• Construction of 26 m long 900 mm diameter online seweage storage facility
• Installement of 2 No. ‘cut and pumps’arrangement at property basement level

8. Name of assignment or project: Tariff Road North London Sewer Flooding alleviation scheme
Year: 2014 – 2015
Client: Thames Water, Role: Senior Hydraulic Modeller
Activities Performed: There were sewer flooding properties in an industrial area which needed to
be protected by providing a solution for 30 yrs return period rainfall. The solution invloved design
of online storage by upsizing the existing underground sewerage system and provision of an offline
sewage storage tank.

Activities Performed: United Utilities was updating all the underground sewer network models to
current date. Worked on preparing performance tables for sewerage catchments in UU sewer
drainage areas.

Activities Performed: This program involved sewer drainage model verification work for 22 DG5
(underground sewer flooding locations) studies involving 14 existing sewer drainage models and
109 flow monitors installed in various sewerage catchment areas. Completed 4 projects of sewer
netwrok model verification in the DG5 sewer flooding program. This involved verification and
design of the sewer network models against the measured flow survey data.

11. Name of assignment or project: Senior Hydraulic Modeller for 4D AMP5 program UK
Location: United Kingdom Year: 2011-2012
Client: Southernwaters Role: Hydraulic Modeller
Activities Performed: This involved verifying and design of an underground sewerage collection
system model with limited flow survey data and estimate flows arriving at sewage treatment works.
Travelled to MWH Cardiff office to assist in this work. With limited budget and information
available the flows arriving at the works were estimated fairly correctly which were corroborated
by the telemetry data available from sewage treatment works.

13. Name of assignment or project: Clean Water Atlanta program USA Year: 2009
Client: City of Atlanta, USA Role: Senior Engineer
Activities Performed: This project was carried out under the Clean Water Atlanta scheme. The
project included completing 100%, Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES), of the entire City of
Atlanta sewer system capturing all pipes 8-inch and above. The approx 250 sewersheds that the city
is divided into is further categorized into 6 sewer groups (SG), with SG 1-4 containing the separated
sewer drainage system and SG 5 and 6 containing the combined sewerage system. The work
involved was to take GIS databases of existing sewerage collection system and import them into
infoworks to build sewer models. Delineate subcatchments based on parcel data and calibrate to the
closest downstream flow meter. After the model has been calibrated, growth projections are added,
(inflow and infiltration) I/I reductions are taken and the sewer model is subjected to a 2yr 3hr design
storm. Analysis of the surcharged areas in this model is performed and sewer upsizing is proposed.

Activities Performed: Research assistant in the environmental engineering worked on Feasibility of
using produced as base fluid for hydraulic fracturing. This involved Transformation of produced
water into a processing fluid for hydrofracturing in oil and natural gas industry was studied through
viscosity experimentation. Viscosity comparison of fracturing gel using tap water and produced
water as the base fluid was investigated to determine the parameters effecting the crosslinking of
guar gum polymer using zirconium acetate as the crosslinker.

Activities Performed: Polymer-Zeolite Mixed Matrix Composites for Chemical Vapor Microsensor
Films Detection of groundwater BTEX stored in USTs was examined using chemical vapor
microsensors coated with highly selective polymer zeolite sensor films. Enhancement of selectivity
of benzene over toluene was observed as the zeolite loading increases in the polymer matrix.
